It warms my heart to see you ready to bring Pipkin to life. There is a special kind of magic in crafting a creature designed not to scare, but to snuggle. We shall stitch love into every loop, ensuring his chubby cheeks and oversized sweater evoke pure joy. Take your hook, settle into your favorite chair, and let us begin this journey together.
About This Creation & Angle
Pipkin is not your ordinary guardian of the fields. While other scarecrows stand tall and rigid, Pipkin is soft, round, and prefers jumping in rain puddles to chasing away birds. In fact, his best friend is Peck, a tiny crow who nests on his shoulder.
This project is designed to be the ultimate "stash buster" for your autumn yarns. It focuses on the "Chibi" aesthetic—a large head, low-set eyes, and a pear-shaped body that begs to be held. The removable chunky cardigan adds a layer of tactile play, making him a perfect gift for little hands or a standout piece on a seasonal mantle.

Assembly & Final Touches
🧵 Head: Sew the head onto the neck of the body. Ensure the cheeks are facing forward.
🧵 Hair: Sew the hair cap onto the head, slightly askew.
🧵 Face: Embroider a small, soft pink triangle nose between the eyes. Use a single strand of black embroidery floss to stitch a small, shy smile. Apply blush to the cheeks.
🧵 Arms: Make two simple tubes (MR 6, sc 8 rounds) with Buttercream loops at the end. Sew to the sides of the body at the shoulder line.
🧵 Dress: Put the cardigan on Pipkin. Place the hat on his head (secure with a few stitches if desired). Sew Peck the Crow onto the hat brim or Pipkin’s shoulder.
Tips & FAQs
❓ The hat is too loose! Ensure you are stuffing the hair cap with a little fiberfill before sewing it on; this adds volume for the hat to sit on.
❓ Can I brush the yarn? Yes! For the straw hair, you can use a pet slicker brush to fuzz up the yarn loops for a more rustic look.
A Final Word
Pipkin is now ready to watch over your home. He may not scare many crows, but he will certainly gather smiles. I hope this pattern brought a sense of peace to your hands today. Until we meet again in the atelier, keep stitching your story.
